Sunday’s Coming ~ January 10, 2016

Welcome to the New Year! I don’t know what you are hoping for in this year, but I know that God is at work among us, and we are praying that our together this week will allow us to be overwhelmed by God’s love in Jesus.  And, once loved, to be the kind of people who live and love like Jesus.

Sunday’s Coming ~ December 27, 2015

This week we will be picking up an occasional series we do called “Heidelberg U.” So far we’ve covered our sin and all the effects of that sin. God created us with the ability to keep the law.  We just keep making bad choices. Sin makes us inadequate and therefore we need mercy.  As a result we look at our incredible need for the baby that was born in a manger long ago in Bethlehem.

Sunday’s Coming ~ December 20, 2015

We are in the fourth week of a season called “advent.” The word “advent” comes from the Latin word adventus, meaning “coming.” For the first Christians, advent was all about preparing for Jesus to come again – the true second Christmas.

Maybe because Christ’s birth was first celebrated during winter amid darkness, light is one of the key elements used to help us understand what Christ’s coming means. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”  (John 1:4)

And this week the kids are telling the story of Jesus’ birth!  It is arguably the most anticipated Sunday of the year! I so hope you enjoy their innocence, their joyful singing, the words they will share, and the message they will bring.
