Sunday Recap – January 13

Yesterday was the first Sunday in our sermon series The Upside Down Kingdom.

Pastor Brian Keepers preached from Matthew 4:23-5:12, inviting us to sit with the disciples on the hillside and listen to Jesus describe what it’s like to see the world the way God sees it.  Right away, in Jesus’ teaching on the Beatitudes, we see how counter-cultural God’s kingdom truly is in comparison to the values and assumptions of this world.

Worship: You can view the sermon and Sunday morning worship by clicking HERE.

Bulletin: Find a link to the bulletin HERE.

Over the course of this sermon series, we encourage you to join us in a Bible reading plan through the book of Matthew. Pick up a bookmark that lists the daily readings at our Welcome Center, or view a digital copy on our blog.

We are also encouraging a Kingdom Practice every week of this series. Below you’ll find the Kingdom Practice for the week:

This Week at Trinity

Wednesday Night Meal: Join us on January 16 from 5:45 to 6:30pm for our next Wednesday Night Meal. This meal is a joint venture between the meal team at Trinity and some of our Latino friends. Come to enjoy traditional Latino food and a time of fellowship. There is a suggested donation of $2 per person.

Sacred Marriage: Starting  January 16, join us on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30 for a 7-week study on Gary Thomas’ book ‘Sacred Marriage’. Each night will include a short video by Gary Thomas with couple’s discussion and small/large group discussion. Couple’s discussion, prayer and short activities will be encouraged outside of the study. One participant guide will need to be purchased at a minimal cost. We also highly encourage you to purchase the book ‘Sacred Marriage’ as a companion book to the study. Childcare will be offered for children ages 0-4. Sign up HERE.

Dwelling In The Word: Starting January 16, join Pastor Brian and Prof. Jeff Barker in Adult Room 1 on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 as they share tips and practices to help you memorize Scripture. God’s Word has the power to change us from the inside out. Paul instructs us to “let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly!” (Col. 3:16)  This is why Scripture memory has long been a key practice for God’s people. There’s something about committing the Bible to memory that gets it deep in the heart and opens up fresh insight. Even if you think you can’t memorize, this class is for you! Sign up HERE.

Men’s Breakfast: Join us at Trinity on Saturday, January 19 at 8:30am to enjoy great fellowship and food, to hear a recorded message from Louie Giglio about our great God, and to hear about opportunities available to connect and grow in 2019. No sign up necessary.

Women’s Ministry Healthy Eating Habits Event: Women of all ages are invited to our next Women’s Ministry event on Saturday, January 19, from 9:30-11am. Registered dietitian Tonya Huenink will talk with us about healthy eating habits at The Gathering, a mile east of Orange City. There is no cost to attend but please sign up HERE so we can plan accordingly with food.
