Sunday Recap – December 16

Sunday morning was the third Sunday in our sermon series Looking Back, Longing Forward.

One of our elders, Michelle Christy, preached from Luke 1:39-56. Michelle invited us, like Mary in longing for the fulfillment of God’s promise, to use the time of waiting as preparation. Waiting is not a season of passivity but a time of preparation. The preparation of waiting grows and confirms hope in our steadfast and promise-keeping God. We receive hope as we see signs of His favor through the promises He has already fulfilled and sing in remembrance and rehearsal of His faithfulness.

On Sunday night, we celebrated the Christmas season by creating space for our younger ones to use their talents to share the story of Christmas at our Christmas Talent Share. Several kids shared their musical talents, read scripture, drew pictures of the Christmas story, shared baked goods, and danced. As Pastor Brian said, God is glorified when we use our talents to praise him. The Christmas Talent share was a beautiful testimony to the gifts God has given our children and a time of celebration for the greatest gift God has given us, the birth of his son Jesus Christ.
