Sunday Recap – October 7

On Sunday morning, the Rev. Canon Captain Titus Baraka preached his sermon titled “You know you need revival when…”. You can view the sermon and Sunday morning worship by clicking HERE.

Titus and his wife Mary are visiting from Mukono, Uganda, Africa. They have been mission partners with Trinity since 2008.

Preaching from the book of Jonah, Titus shared the following key points:

You know you need revival when…

  1. You choose to take an opposite direction from where God wants you to be.
  2. You intentionally choose to sleep over issues in your life intended to get your attention toward God.
  3. Unbelievers around you get spiritually smarter than you to suggest for you to call upon the Lord.
  4. You are not ashamed to identify yourself with a God or a religious affiliation of whom/which you deliberately choose to ignore the will and purpose of that God.
  5. We would rather face the consequences of our sins rather than repent.
  6. You are drawn to communicate with God only during difficult times.
  7. You find yourself doing God’s service out of nominal religious duty rather than genuine commitment to Christ.
  8. You would rather see people face the wrath of God rather than God’s mercy.

Setting up our next series so well, Titus ended with the question: which area of your emotional life challenges your spiritual relationship with God?
