In The Loop – August 2018

A NEW FALL

There are a few new things we’re doing this fall to give families more options and to help with the overcrowding at our middle service. As you probably know, our worship times are now 8:15, 9:30, and 10:50, and we have already seen an increase in attendance in our last service (10:50). In addition, we have a few Sunday school changes. Kids Pre-K to 5th grade will now have Sunday school at both the 9:30 AND 10:50 services. Children & Worship will happen at 8:15 for kids 4 years old through 1st grade. In making these changes, we are hoping to reach more kids and create more room in our services for those who are not yet here.

STAFFING UPDATES

We are pleased to announce that Jamie (Jongerius) Prescott has joined our staff as the new Communications Director.  Jamie has been working with us since the middle of April and has now officially stepped into this role.  Jamie oversees our print and digital communications, social media, and the printing of the bulletin each week.

After many years of faithful dedication to keeping Trinity looking it’s best, Curtis and Marlys Jager are stepping down from their role as housekeepers.  We give our sincere thanks to the work they have done to always keep Trinity an inviting and welcoming place.  If you are interested in a part time housekeeping position, check out our job posting.

We also want to thank Melinda Netten for her time with us, as she is stepping down from her role as Trinity’s Nursery Coordinator.  We appreciate the work she has put into serving the youngest at Trinity and for providing a space for them to hear about the love of Jesus.  Melinda will continue to serve in this capacity until we are able to find the next person to help in this area of children’s ministry.

Trinity has become a place where young leaders grow and are given opportunities to lead.  In addition to the many students who serve throughout the church, we have several interns that will be taking on specific areas of leadership at Trinity this year.  Keep reading to learn about the students that will be leading this year.

INTERNS

Ame Baird is a senior at Northwestern and will be interning with us this year in worship and AV.  He is a married student and has led worship at NWC and at Sutherland Church of Christ.

Mahalah Booth is a student at Dordt and will also be interning in worship and AV.  Mahalah is from Nebraska and studied vocal performance at Casper college before attending Dordt.

SEPTEMBER SERIES

On September 9, we’ll start a new worship series called Thrive.  Throughout the series we’ll learn from Jeremiah 29 as we dive into what it means to seek the flourishing of the places that we live, work, and play.  In it we hope to acknowledge and name the “here” we find ourselves in and ask the question, “what is God calling us to in the midst of our current location and situation?”.

REGIONAL MINISTRY

Trinity continues to look for ways to live into our calling to be a regional church.  We have seen this in worship through things like CenterPoint, where Trinity and other churches have been coming together for a time of prayer and worship.  We’ve seen that in Youth Ministries as we have helped facilitate youth mission trips for other congregations.  We are also in continued talks with First Reformed Church of Hospers seeing how we might best partner together.  While we don’t know where all of these conversations will go, it is becoming clearer that God is calling Trinity beyond the confines of Orange City and into the region of Northwest Iowa.
