Sunday’s Coming ~ January 29, 2017

We have spent the last 3 weeks studying the humility of Christ from the gospels of Matthew and Luke. This week, we’ll explore the humility of the kingdom to which Jesus belongs. Jesus’ first sermon to His disciples and to the crowds in Matthew 5 details the characteristics of God’s kingdom.

Contrary to what folks might have expected, this kingdom is not forceful, harsh, or political. Instead, like its King, this kingdom is filled with mercy, compassion, justice, meekness, and other Christ-like characteristics. In His opening address, Jesus flips the world on its head and ushers in a now and not yet kingdom that belongs to those who emulate the humility of its King.

We hope that this week’s message will be an encouragement to your walk with the Lord, and that you will be moved by the humility of Christ in a way that inspires your participation in a very special kind of kingdom.
