Sunday’s Coming ~ April 9, 2017

Preaching this week is Director of Youth Ministry, Ben Vos. He will share a message from Exodus 17 on the trustworthy nature of God.

This Sunday is Palm Sunday and we are marching through the season of Lent and Holy Week as we journey to the cross. We have learned over the past several weeks that this journey is neither easy nor fun. That it’s often filled with strife and heartache, tragedy, and loss. Indeed, the way of the cross is not the way that most of us would chose. But for the heart of the disciple, the way of the cross is the necessary road. And don’t forget, Church, the way of the cross is also the way of the empty tomb. If we go through the cross, we get to go through the tomb as well.

This week we’ll see in Exodus that when we cry out to God, He doesn’t simply hear our petitions. He doesn’t just respond to us using words. When we cry out to God, God does something. He says, “Hit me.” And then He proves through His actions that He can be trusted.

As we prepare for Christ’s trial, death, burial, and resurrection, would we be a people who trusts in God not because of what He says, but because of what He does. And may we also remember that what He does is always for our good.
