This week we continue our summer series entitled MESSY GRACE. It is a recognition of the beautiful reality that God is at work in the midst of our messiness.
Here’s something I’ve learned about messes: some messes are easier to see than others. It’s pretty easy so spot the mess Zacchaeus made of his life, or the woman at the well, or David’s affair, and the like. But what about those messes in our soul that no one sees? What lies behind the facades and storefronts of our faces? And what happens when the veil is pulled back?
Everyone of us is pretty messed up. We make messes in our overt sins. And we makes messes in very religious efforts. What’s your mess?
The message this week takes us to one of those hidden messes. In the story of the man with two sons, we see the mess of the younger son – the one who went off and rebelled against his dad. Sunday we’ll look at the mess of the older son. He was just as lost, maybe even worse. He stayed home, he did everything right, he never disobeyed. And he was messed up. Watch what happens when the veil is pulled back.
And, look for how the Father responds to his mess. It might surprise you.

- This class gathers around the table in Room 1 from 9:15-9:55 a.m. Sunday School Guides and lesson outlines are available in the office. This week we will be starting a new series of lessons on Romans. We will see that the good news of the gospel of salvation is set side by side in Romans with the bad news of eternal death as punishment for those who refuse to believe in Jesus. - Join us each week this summer as we dig into God’s Word as we work through different passages of Scripture related to our faith.
