Monday’s Here

MONDAY’S HERE
Thank you, church, for giving yourselves away in worship yesterday.  What a sweet sound!  Thanks be to God!

We had a great day elsewhere, too.  Over 100 came to the class on racism, and 20 more in the spiritual disciplines class.  110 people sat in the Lobby for the 11:00 service.  While it is thrilling to have a very full house, there is room for about 150 people at 8:45.  If you attend 11:00, would you consider joining us at 8:45 a.m.?

I gave some tools for prayer, including some prayer books.  If you want to see more, check these Amazon links for details on the books I mentioned:

  • Prayer: Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God by Tim Keller.  Click HERE.
  • Seeking God’s Face: Praying with the Bible through the Year by Philip Reinders. Click HERE.
  • The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers and Devotions. Click HERE.
  • The Divine Hours…Manual for Prayer by Phyllis Tickle.  Click HERE.

This quote didn’t make the final cut of the message, but I also enjoyed Mark Batterson’s words: Who you are is determined by how you pray. Ultimately the transcript of your prayers becomes the script of your life.

Blessings on your journey,

GOSPEL PROJECT KIDS CONNECTING POINT

This week The Gospel Project for Kids continues with the two-part story of Joseph. Joseph had been placed in power in Egypt, and there was a famine throughout the world. Joseph had plenty of food, and the people came to him for it. When Joseph’s brothers arrived for food, Joseph recognized them and tested them to see if their hearts had changed.

Joseph recognized that though his brothers intended evil, God planned his circumstances for good—to establish a remnant of God’s people (Genesis 45:7). Likewise, although those who crucified Jesus intended evil, God’s plan for the sacrifice of His Son was for the good of all people. Through Jesus’ death on the cross, God again saved a remnant of people.
