SUNDAY’S COMING

Empowered

During August, our worship series is called “Empowered.”  The main point is empowering people to engage in transformational ministry that partners with God’s kingdom.

In short, we believe in a great God who invites us to follow after Jesus, be transformed by the Holy Spirit, and be empowered to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.

All month in worship, we’ll be exploring that journey and ways our ministry is helping people connect more deeply with God, others, and the world.  You’ll hear about specific ministry growth and serving opportunities that will be getting under way this fall, as well as connect more deeply to our partners around the world.

This Sunday we welcome Rev. Dr. Charles Van Engen, our mission partner in Latin America Theological Studies. His message is on the “The God Who Seeks and Saves.”  God is looking for you and me.  He will not stop searching until he finds.

God is doing some incredible work in and through the lives of his people in our faith community.

I can’t wait to see what will happen as we all give ourselves more and more to being followers of Jesus.

WEB SITE AND BULLETIN NEW LOOKS

Over the last two weeks, we’ve updated our Website with a new look – crisp and clean, with easy to find drop-down menus.  We’ve also added in more information about using the facility as well as an update to our missional values and belief statement that elders worked on through the Spring.  CLICK HERE to see the updated site, which is also more mobile-friendly.

The bulletin, too, will have a new feel on Sunday.  Our goal is to make the bulletin more useful to visitors with a cleaner look.

A PICTURE WORTH 1,000s OF VOLUNTEER HOURS…

seniorsWith over 50 students and leaders at Rocky 2014 this week, 100s of photos are being posted on Facebook and social media.  I love them all, but this one is particularly joyful — and not just because three of the students are my own children.

This picture represents most (though not all) of the seniors who went to Rocky this year.  (It also include a few kids from Hope Church in Spencer.)

Why I love it: seeing it reminds that most of these young adults began their journey to and in and after Christ in the very beginning of children’s ministry at Trinity.  They were 3 and 4 years old when we opened the 1999 addition and Karen Clark’s children’s ministry team completely revamped nursery to 5th grade.  It took great vision of our leaders, tremendous effort by the first implementers, and a willingness to change and invest by our volunteers.  This picture is one that represents the fruit of those labors and the ongoing investment the 100s of volunteers and the work of Kristin Brouwer as they continue to serve the Lord.  Thanks be to God!
