Yes! 80s worship was amazing!!!!! (OK, I’m a little biased — as a child coming of age in the 80s, I certainly enjoyed Sunday).
More importantly, thank you for giving yourselves to God’s Word in John 5 and looking at redeeming work in a fallen world. See below for a great story that didn’t make the final message.
The key question I asked, “Knowing what you know and seeing what you see, what are you going to do?” is one that I have read in a number of places, but most recently in Steven Garber’s “Visions of Vocation: Common Grace for the Common Good.”

Next Sunday ~ Joint Service with Amistad

Sunday School Memory Verses
This summer, each week the K-5 kids can memorize a new verse that goes along with our Summer Sunday School Curriculum. They can stop by church between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. this week on Wednesday and Thursday to recite the verse to Kristin for a prize.
This weeks verses are: “Instead, serve one another in love.” ~Galatians 5:13b “He is there to help when trouble comes.” ~Proverbs 17:17

The Ignite Middle Schoolers returned yesterday from their Urban Plunge Mission Trip to Sioux Falls, SD. It was a memorable trip with lots of great experiences had by all. Below is a slide show with some of their trip highlights.

A Story of Redeeming Work
When Jon opened his sermon with the question of who had it worse in the curse — Adam and Even children in an impoverished rural developing world with no clean water or sanitary sewer, he was thinking of the two girls recently raped and hung from a tree in India. There were just doing what every person does in such a village in India: they were going out into a country field to use the bathroom. They were attacked on the way (or the way back). This is a common problem in rural places. One man is redeeming the situation one village at a time. Here is the story from a National Public Radio Account:
71 year old Social entrepreneur Bindeshwar Pathak has offered to build a toilet for every house in the village. It wouldn’t be the first time for the man known in India as the “toilet guru.”
With Pathak’s low-maintenance, low-cost toilet — about $250 — one pit gets filled while the other biodegrades the waste, which can be used as fertilizer. Each of the 144 households has been outfitted in this village, a village Pathak calls a “pathfinder … to show the entire nation that you should have toilets in your house. And here nobody goes outside. This is the beauty of this village,” he says.
The women of Hir Mathala village arrange themselves on the floor and literally sing the praises of the 71-year-old Pathak, whose lowly toilet has become a tool of social change.
